Quick Answer
Smyle: Lie Through Your Teeth! is a bluffing party card game where you collect pearly whites, hide rotten ones, and use fairy and gadget cards to outwit opponents. The player with the best (or best-hidden) set of teeth wins.
What Makes Smyle Different from Other Bluffing Games
Most bluffing games rely on reading faces or betting. Smyle adds a memory layer: you must remember where valuable teeth are hiding while using X-Ray cards to peek at trouble and special effects to upset plans. The tooth fairy theme gives every action a mischievous twist.
The game plays 2–4 players and takes about 20–30 minutes, making it a quick filler for game nights. Because the deck includes Fairies, Gadgets, and Teeth cards, no two rounds play exactly the same.
How to Play Smyle: Step-by-Step Rules
- Set Up the Teeth Pool: Shuffle all Teeth cards and place them face down in the center. Each player takes a hand of Fairy and Gadget cards (the exact number depends on player count — see the rulebook). Common mistake: players forget to check the player-count setup. Always confirm hand size before starting.
- Play Cards by Initiative: On your turn, play one Fairy or Gadget card from your hand. Resolve its effect immediately. Initiative order is printed on the cards — higher Initiative acts first. Effects can steal teeth, swap teeth, reveal hidden cards, or force opponents to discard. Watch out: some cards let you peek at a tooth, but you must keep its location secret unless the card says otherwise.
- Collect Teeth and Conceal Rotten Ones: When you collect a tooth, place it face down in front of you. If you have a rotten tooth, you can try to hide it among your good teeth. Opponents can use X-Ray cards to reveal your hidden teeth. Checkpoint: if you have more than one rotten tooth, spread them out so opponents can't guess which is which.
- End the Round and Score: The round ends when the Teeth pool is empty or when a player runs out of Fairy/Gadget cards. Reveal all collected teeth. Each pearly white scores 1 point; each rotten tooth scores -1 point. The player with the highest score wins the round. Common mistake: forgetting to track negative points. Rotten teeth can quickly tank your score if you don't hide them well.
