Quick answer
Use rainforest animal figurines to spark imaginative play by creating habitats, sorting by species, and incorporating eco-friendly storage like Wild Republic's Eco Zip Tubes.
Why focus on rainforest animal figurines?
Rainforest animal figurines offer a unique way to introduce children to biodiversity and conservation. Unlike generic animal toys, they represent real species like toucans, sloths, and jaguars, encouraging curiosity about the natural world. The Wild Republic Eco Zip Tubes set includes 13 rainforest-themed figurines made from recycled plastic, making playtime both educational and sustainable.
One common challenge is keeping the figurines organized and preventing loss. The reusable zippered bag in the Eco Zip Tubes set solves this, but you can also use it as a base for sorting activities. This guide walks you through three simple steps to maximize play value.
How to play with rainforest animal figurines
- 1. Create a rainforest habitat: Use a shoebox, play mat, or a section of the floor to build a rainforest scene. Arrange the figurines in groups by canopy layer (e.g., toucans in trees, jaguars on the ground). Encourage storytelling about each animal's role. A common mistake is placing all animals on one level—use different surfaces to mimic real layers.
- 2. Sort and learn by species: Empty the zippered bag and sort the 13 figurines by type (mammals, birds, reptiles) or by rainforest region (Amazon, Congo, etc.). Discuss one fact per animal, such as what it eats or where it sleeps. Check that children don't mix up similar-looking species like jaguars and leopards—use color or pattern clues.
- 3. Practice cleanup with the zip tube: After play, store each figurine back in the reusable bag. Make it a game: time how fast they can put all 13 pieces away. The zip closure ensures nothing falls out during storage. Avoid overstuffing the bag—if it's too full, the zipper may not close properly. Spread figurines evenly.
