Quick answer
Stasher Large Circle Stretch Lids create a tight, leak-proof seal on standard bowls and jars. Follow the steps below to avoid common fit issues and get the most out of each lid.
Matching the lid to your container
The 9-inch diameter works best on bowls with a rim between 8 and 9.5 inches across. Jars with a mouth smaller than 6 inches usually need the smaller lid size (not included in this pack) — the large lid will bunch up and won't seal. One lid fits most mixing bowls, serving dishes, and meal prep containers, but narrow-neck jars are a poor match. If your jar opening is wider than 6 inches, the large circle lid can cover it, but check that the stretchable rim sits flat without gaps.
Surface prep matters more than you think
A clean, dry rim is essential for an airtight seal. Oil, moisture, or food crumbs create micro‑gaps that let air in and reduce freshness. Wipe the rim with a dry cloth before placing the lid. For glass jars, the lid grips better on smooth, non‑porous surfaces. Textured or cracked rims may cause the seal to break over time.
How to get the best seal every time
- Center the lid over the rim: Place the lid so the entire rim is covered. The stretchable silicone should extend about 1 inch beyond the rim on all sides. If the lid is off-center, the seal will be weaker on one side — adjust until the overhang is even. Even overhang is your first check for a good seal.
- Stretch the lid down and under the rim: Use both hands to pull the lid evenly down the sides of the bowl or jar. Work the silicone under the rim so it snugs against the underside. A common mistake is pulling only one side — this causes the opposite side to pop up. For deep bowls, start at one point and work your way around. Pulling one side alone leaves gaps — do the full circumference.
- Press around the rim to seal: After the lid is stretched in place, run your thumb or finger along the entire rim to press the silicone tightly against the container surface. Listen for a faint pop or hiss, which means air is escaping — rework that section until no air escapes. The lid should feel firmly attached, not loose or wobbly. A quiet press test confirms the seal is airtight.
