Quick answer
To use the ZUTTO Coffee Maker EC-DAC50, fill the removable water tank with fresh water, add ground coffee to the filter basket, and press the brew switch. The machine automatically keeps your coffee warm after brewing.
Understanding the removable water tank
The EC-DAC50's water tank lifts off for easy filling at the sink. This is more convenient than pouring into a fixed reservoir, but you must seat it firmly back into place to avoid leaks or brewing interruptions.
Using the iced coffee water measure lines
Inside the tank, you'll find separate water measure lines for iced coffee. These lines adjust the water-to-coffee ratio so the brew is stronger, which compensates for dilution when poured over ice. Use these lines instead of the regular ones when making iced coffee.
Step-by-step brewing instructions
- Fill the water tank: Lift the removable water tank from the machine, fill it with fresh cold water to the desired cup level (use the iced coffee lines if brewing for iced coffee), and press it back into place until it clicks. Check that the tank is fully seated; a loose tank can cause the machine to stop mid-brew.
- Add coffee grounds: Open the filter basket lid, place a paper filter (size 4 cone) inside, and add medium-ground coffee. Use about 1 tablespoon per cup, or follow the iced coffee ratio if using those lines. Do not overfill the basket—grounds can spill into the carafe and make the coffee bitter.
- Brew and keep warm: Close the filter basket lid, place the carafe on the warming plate, and press the brew switch. The machine will automatically keep the coffee warm after brewing finishes. Turn off the warming plate after 2 hours to avoid a burnt taste; the carafe is not insulated for extended heat retention.
