Quick Answer
The Hummingbirds of North America 2000-piece puzzle is a rewarding but demanding build, best suited for experienced puzzlers who love birds and want a multi-session challenge.
What Makes This Puzzle a Challenge
The puzzle features sky and a field of flowers decorated with delightful hummingbirds, with a lovely green border highlighting each species and its name. The large areas of sky and flowers mean you can't rely on color alone to place pieces—you'll need to study subtle shape variations and piece details.
For experienced puzzlers, this is part of the appeal. For newcomers, it could be frustrating. If you're new to 2000-piece puzzles, consider starting with a smaller piece count or a more structured image before tackling this one.
Trade-Off: Beauty vs. Difficulty
The same features that make the image beautiful—the sky, the field of flowers, the detailed hummingbirds—also make it harder to assemble. The sky can feel repetitive, and the flowers require close attention to color and pattern.
If you're looking for a relaxing, low-stress puzzle, this may not be the best choice. But if you enjoy a challenge and want a stunning finished piece to frame, the trade-off is worth it.
Decision Rules: Is This Puzzle Right for You?
- Experience Level: If you have completed at least one 1000-piece puzzle and enjoy a challenge, this 2000-piece puzzle is a good fit. If you're a beginner, start with a smaller piece count. Assess your puzzle experience honestly before buying.
- Time Commitment: Expect to spend multiple sessions over several days or weeks. If you prefer one-sitting puzzles, choose a smaller piece count. Plan for a long-term project.
- Visual Appeal vs. Difficulty: If you value a beautiful finished image and don't mind tough assembly, this puzzle delivers. If you prioritize easy assembly, look for a more structured image with distinct color blocks. Weigh the beauty against the challenge.
