Quick answer

To install the 5-fret guitar grip on your NEO S Black Tribal Edition, align the attachment with the controller's mounting pins and press firmly until it clicks into place.

Before you start: What you need

The NEO S Black Tribal Edition comes with the 5-fret Guitar Grip Attachment in the box. You don't need any tools or extra parts—just the controller and the attachment itself.

Make sure your controller is turned off before attaching or removing the grip to avoid accidental inputs during the process.

Step-by-step installation

  1. Step 1: Remove the faceplate: Gently lift the faceplate from the top edge of the NEO S controller. It snaps off with light pressure—no prying tools needed. Common mistake: pulling too hard can warp the faceplate. Use even pressure from both sides.
  2. Step 2: Align the 5-fret attachment: Hold the 5-fret Guitar Grip Attachment so the two mounting pins on its back face the corresponding slots on the controller's top edge. Checkpoint: the pins should slide in without force. If they don't align, rotate the attachment 180 degrees.
  3. Step 3: Press until it clicks: Push the attachment down firmly until you hear a click. The grip should sit flush against the controller body. Common mistake: pressing at an angle can leave the grip loose. Apply straight-down pressure.
  4. Step 4: Reattach the faceplate: Snap the faceplate back onto the controller, covering the attachment's base. The faceplate holds the grip securely in place. Checkpoint: if the faceplate doesn't sit flat, the grip may not be fully seated. Repeat step 3.
  5. Step 5: Test the connection: Turn on your controller and open Fortnite Festival or Clone Hero. Strum the 5-fret attachment to confirm all buttons register. If a fret doesn't respond, remove the faceplate and reseat the attachment. The connection pins must be clean and dry.
