Quick answer
Install the Maxi-Cosi FamilyFix 360 Base using ISOFIX connectors, then attach your compatible car seat (Pebble 360, Coral 360, or Pearl 360) and use the FlexiSpin rotational system for easy access.
Why the FamilyFix 360 Base makes installation easier
The FamilyFix 360 Base uses FlexiSpin technology, which lets you rotate the car seat in any reclined position. This means you can click your child in while facing the car door, then spin them back to face the road without uninstalling the base. It is compatible with Maxi-Cosi Pebble 360, Coral 360, and Pearl 360 car seats (sold separately).
One tradeoff: the base itself is heavier than a standard fixed base because of the rotating mechanism. If you switch cars often, you may prefer a lighter, non-rotating base. But for daily use in one vehicle, the convenience of 360-degree rotation is worth the extra weight.
Step-by-step installation
- 1. Locate the ISOFIX points: Check your vehicle’s manual to find the ISOFIX anchor points (usually between the seat back and base cushion). Push the two ISOFIX arms on the FamilyFix 360 Base into the anchors until you hear a click. A green indicator will appear on each arm when locked. If the green indicator does not show, the arm is not fully engaged. Pull the base out and try again.
- 2. Extend and lock the support leg: Press the release button on the support leg and extend it until it touches the vehicle floor firmly. The leg must be on the floor, not on a storage compartment or uneven surface. A green indicator confirms correct contact. Do not skip the support leg even if the base feels stable. It prevents forward rotation in a crash.
- 3. Attach your compatible car seat: Align the car seat (Pebble 360, Coral 360, or Pearl 360) with the base until you hear a click. Check that the seat is flush against the base and that any visual indicators show green. Use the FlexiSpin feature to rotate the seat and confirm smooth movement. If the seat does not click or the indicators stay red, remove the seat and reattach. Never drive with a partially locked seat.
- 4. Adjust the recline angle: Use the recline adjuster on the base to set the correct angle for your child’s age and weight. Refer to your car seat manual for the proper recline position. The base rotates even when reclined, so you can adjust this after installation. For newborns, use the most reclined position. For older toddlers, a more upright position is usually correct.
- 5. Perform a final tightness check: Hold the base near the ISOFIX connectors and try to move it side to side and front to back. Movement should be less than 1 inch (2.5 cm). If the base shifts more, re-tighten the ISOFIX arms or adjust the support leg. A loose base is dangerous. If you cannot get a tight fit, try a different seating position or consult a certified car seat technician.
