Quick answer

The COVERT Clear Case for iPhone 17 Air holds MagSafe accessories reliably, but you can test the magnet strength at home to confirm compatibility with your specific charger or wallet.

Why magnet strength matters

A clear case that blocks or weakens the built-in magnets can make your MagSafe charger or wallet slip off. The COVERT case is designed to preserve alignment, but testing gives you confidence before you rely on it daily.

How to test MagSafe magnet strength

  1. 1. Attach a MagSafe charger: Place your iPhone 17 Air inside the COVERT case, then hold a MagSafe charger (like Apple's MagSafe Charger) against the back. The charger should snap into place with an audible click. If it only sticks loosely, the magnets may be misaligned. Check that the charger's center aligns with the case's magnet ring.
  2. 2. Test with a MagSafe wallet: Attach a MagSafe wallet to the back of the cased phone. Lift the phone by the wallet — it should hold the phone's weight without sliding off. If the wallet detaches easily, the magnet grip is weak. A wallet that holds during a gentle shake is strong enough for daily use.
  3. 3. Check for accessory wobble: With a MagSafe charger attached, gently tilt the phone side to side. The charger should stay centered and not wobble. If it shifts, the magnets may not be locking properly. Any visible movement means the case could interfere with charging alignment.
  4. 4. Measure pull force (optional): Use a small digital luggage scale to measure the force needed to detach a MagSafe accessory. Attach the scale's hook to the accessory and pull straight up. A force of 1.5–2.5 lbs (0.7–1.1 kg) is typical for a strong MagSafe connection. Below 1 lb (0.45 kg) suggests the case is reducing magnet strength.
