Quick answer

The King of Tokyo Zombify Card lets you survive your first death in the game, but at the cost of losing all Victory Points and capping your health. Use it when you want a second chance without fully resetting your game.

When the Zombify Card fits your game

This promo card is ideal for casual King of Tokyo sessions where players want a safety net, or for teaching new players who might get eliminated early. It does not appear in the base game, so you must decide before starting whether to include it. The card adds a minor comeback mechanic but also removes the finality of death, which can slow the pace for groups that prefer quick eliminations.

How to use the Zombify Card in your King of Tokyo games

  1. Add the card to the deck before the game starts: Shuffle the Zombify Card into the main deck during setup. It is a promo card, so it is not part of the standard King of Tokyo deck. If your group prefers a consistent experience, announce its inclusion so everyone knows the undead rule is active. Common mistake: forgetting to announce the card before the game, which can cause confusion when a player triggers it unexpectedly.
  2. Trigger the effect on your first death: When you first reach 0 Health, instead of being eliminated, discard all your Victory Points, leave Tokyo if you are there, heal to 12 Health, and set your maximum Health to 12. You cannot gain Health for the rest of the game. The effect only fires once per player. Note that you lose all VP, so if you were close to 20 VP, the Zombify Card resets your progress completely.
  3. Adjust your strategy after resurrection: With a permanent 12 Health cap and no healing, you must rely on other players rolling healing results or avoid damage altogether. Focus on gaining VP through card effects or staying out of Tokyo. The card gives you a second life, but you cannot recover from hits, so every point of damage is permanent. Common mistake: assuming you can still heal with cards or dice. The rule explicitly prevents any Health gain, so healing cards in hand become useless after resurrection.

Card facts

  • King of Tokyo: Zombify Card: If you reach 0 Health for the first time, lose all your VP, leave Tokyo, gain 12 health and continue playing. Your maximum health becomes 12 and you can't gain health for the rest of the game. This turns a single death into a strategic reset: you sacrifice all progress toward winning (VP) for a larger health pool that can never be healed, making subsequent attacks riskier.
