Quick Answer
If you want a dramatic display piece with a limited Wei Wu coating and a larger scale, the Motor Nuclear Zhao Yun & White Dragon Horse is the clear winner. If you prefer a more affordable, standard-issue metal frame kit that's easier to customize, the Burning Steel DP-H01 Ling Yao offers better value. Both are third-party metal frame kits, so expect some fitting work.
What Sets These Kits Apart
The Burning Steel DP-H01 Ling Yao is a standard edition escort agent kit, priced at USD 81.90 (compare at USD 117.00). It's a straightforward metal frame build with a distinctive design, aimed at collectors who want a premium feel without the premium price tag. The Motor Nuclear Zhao Yun & White Dragon Horse, on the other hand, is a limited edition with a Wei Wu coating—a special finish that adds a layer of visual flair—and it comes with the iconic white dragon horse mount. At USD 176.80 (compare at USD 260.00), it's more than double the price, and that gap reflects the coating, the extra figure, and the limited availability.
Scale is another key difference. The Ling Yao is an unstated scale, likely 1/100 or similar, but the Motor Nuclear kit is a metal frame model kit without a specified scale in the provided facts. If scale matters to your display, check the product pages for dimensions. For most collectors, the choice comes down to budget and whether you want a showpiece or a customizable base.
Tradeoffs to Consider
- Price vs. Features: The Ling Yao is USD 81.90, the Zhao Yun set is USD 176.80. The Zhao Yun includes a second figure (the horse) and a special coating, but you pay a 116% premium. If the horse and coating are essential, the price is justified; otherwise, the Ling Yao is the budget pick.
- Coating vs. Customization: The Wei Wu coating is a limited finish that you may not want to repaint. The Ling Yao's standard edition is a blank canvas for custom paint jobs. Choose Zhao Yun for display-ready, Ling Yao for personalization.
- Availability vs. Waiting: The Zhao Yun is a pre-order with an ETA of October 2026, meaning you'll wait. The Ling Yao is a standard edition likely in stock sooner. If you need a kit now, the Ling Yao is the safer bet; if you can wait for a limited edition, go Zhao Yun.
