Quick Answer

Choose the Litter-Robot EVO if you want a simple, compact self-cleaning litter box that fits small spaces and households with 1–2 cats. Choose the Litter-Robot 5 if you want the most advanced automatic litter box with deeper cat insights via a Whisker+ membership. Both eliminate scooping; the trade-off is simplicity and size versus advanced features and data.

If you're comparing the Litter-Robot EVO and Litter-Robot 5, you're likely weighing a streamlined, space-saving design against the most advanced self-cleaning litter box available. Both models automatically sift waste, but they serve different households and priorities.

This comparison uses only verified catalog facts to explain the real differences. You'll see how size, features, and price align with your cats and your home, so you can pick the right model without second-guessing.

Size and Placement: Compact vs Full-Size

The Litter-Robot EVO is described as the most streamlined, compact Litter-Robot, designed to fit seamlessly into almost any space. That makes it a strong candidate for apartments, laundry rooms, or bathrooms where floor space is tight. The Litter-Robot 5, by contrast, is the most advanced automatic self-cleaning litter box for cats, which typically means a larger footprint and more internal components.

If you have a dedicated cat area with room to spare, the Litter-Robot 5's size is less of a concern. But if every inch counts, the EVO's compact design is a practical advantage. Neither model requires daily scooping, so your main decision is where the unit will live and how much space you can give it.

  • Measure your intended spot before buying; the EVO is built for tight spaces.
  • Leave clearance around any automatic litter box for your cat to enter and exit comfortably.

Features and Insights: Simplicity vs Advanced Data

The Litter-Robot EVO focuses on simplicity: it's a straightforward self-cleaning litter box for first-time cat owners and households with 1–2 cats. There's no mention of app-based health tracking or membership perks in the supplied facts, so expect a no-frills experience that just works.

The Litter-Robot 5 is positioned as the most advanced model, and the Litter-Robot 5 Insights Bundle includes access to deeper cat insights with a Whisker+ membership. If you want to monitor litter box habits over time, that data could be valuable. If you'd rather not manage an app or subscription, the EVO keeps things simple.

  • Decide whether you'll actually use app insights before paying for the Litter-Robot 5.
  • The EVO is ideal if you want automation without extra digital layers.

Price and Bundles: What You Get for the Money

At catalog prices, the Litter-Robot EVO is listed at USD 299.50 (compared to USD 599.00), while the Litter-Robot 5 Insights Bundle is USD 489.00 (compared to USD 978.00). The EVO Starter Bundle is USD 364.50 (compared to USD 729.00), and the Litter-Robot 5 Starter Bundle is USD 479.50 (compared to USD 959.00). These prices are subject to change, but the gap is clear: the EVO costs less upfront.

Bundles add accessories that can make setup easier. The EVO Starter Bundle includes highly-rated Litter-Robot accessories to get the most out of your automatic litter box. The Litter-Robot 5 Starter Bundle does the same for the Litter-Robot 5, while the Insights Bundle adds the Whisker+ membership for deeper insights. If you want a complete setup without buying extras later, a bundle can be worth the extra cost.

  • Compare bundle contents to avoid paying for accessories you already own.
  • The EVO's lower price leaves room in your budget for a Credenza or accessory kit.

Household Fit: Cats, Space, and Lifestyle

The EVO is explicitly recommended for first-time cat owners, households with 1–2 cats, and small spaces. That's a clear signal that it's designed for simpler setups. If you have more cats or a larger home, the Litter-Robot 5's advanced capabilities may be a better match, though the supplied facts don't specify a cat count for the Litter-Robot 5.

Consider your tolerance for maintenance and technology. The EVO's streamlined design likely means fewer components to clean or troubleshoot. The Litter-Robot 5's advanced features may require more initial setup and a Whisker+ membership for the full experience. Neither is inherently better—it depends on how much you want from your litter box.

  • Count your cats: the EVO is rated for 1–2 cats.
  • Think about whether you'll use health insights or prefer a simpler routine.
