Why you might need a universal adapter
Not all phone cases come with a magnetic plate built in. If you have a favorite case that does not support magnetic mounting, the Universal Adapter bridges that gap. It adds a metal plate to your existing case so you can use ROKFORM’s MAGMAX™ magnets and ROKLOCK twist-lock system.
The trade-off is that the adapter adds a small amount of thickness and weight. It also requires careful alignment to ensure a secure hold. But for most users, the convenience of using any case outweighs these minor drawbacks.
How to install and use the Magnetic Universal Adapter
- Clean the back of your phone case: Wipe the area where the adapter will sit with a lint-free cloth and rubbing alcohol. Let it dry completely. A clean surface ensures the adhesive sticks properly. Skipping this step can cause the adapter to peel off when you twist the phone off the mount.
- Peel the backing and center the adapter: Remove the protective film from the adhesive side of the adapter. Place it on the back of your case, aligning it with the center of your phone. Press firmly for 10-15 seconds. If the adapter is off-center, the phone may wobble or not lock into the mount securely.
- Let the adhesive cure: Wait at least 24 hours before attaching the phone to a mount. This gives the adhesive time to reach full strength. Do not use the mount during this period. Using the mount too early can cause the adapter to detach, especially in hot weather.
- Attach your phone to the mount: Bring the adapter close to the ROKFORM mount. The MAGMAX™ magnets will pull it into place. Twist the phone slightly to engage the ROKLOCK lock and confirm it is secure. Always give a gentle tug to verify the lock is engaged before driving or moving with the phone.
- Remove the phone by twisting: To release the phone, twist it in the opposite direction of the lock. Do not pull straight off, as this can damage the adapter or mount. Pulling straight off instead of twisting can weaken the adhesive over time.
