Quick Answer
The Moonchild Black Frosted Glass 35mm D20 is a premium, oversized glass die that combines bold aesthetics with a unique tactile feel — ideal for players who want a centerpiece die for critical rolls. It is currently available for pre-order with shipments starting in early September.
Why Choose Frosted Glass Over Other Materials?
Frosted glass offers a depth and texture that resin or acrylic cannot replicate. The Moonchild's black frosted finish diffuses light subtly, giving it a mysterious, moonlit appearance on the tabletop.
Glass dice are heavier than standard plastic sets, which can make rolls feel more deliberate and satisfying. However, they are more fragile than metal or resin — a drop on a hard floor could chip or crack the die.
Pre-Order and Warranty Considerations
The Moonchild D20 is a pre-order item with an expected ship date in early September. If you need a die immediately, consider a different in-stock option.
Misty Mountain Gaming offers a lifetime warranty on all glass dice, which covers manufacturing defects. This provides peace of mind for a premium purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the Moonchild D20 ship?
It is a pre-order item. Orders will ship in early September.
Is the Moonchild D20 suitable for everyday use?
Yes, but handle it with care. Frosted glass is durable but can chip or crack if dropped on a hard surface. It is best used as a special-occasion or centerpiece die rather than a daily driver. Consider a backup plastic or resin set for regular play if you want to preserve the Moonchild's condition.
How does the 35mm size compare to standard dice?
Standard D20s are typically 16-20mm. The Moonchild's 35mm diameter makes it nearly twice as large, offering excellent readability and a commanding presence on the table.
Does the frosted finish affect rolling?
The frosted surface provides a slight grip compared to polished glass, which can reduce sliding on smooth tabletops. It also minimizes glare under bright lights.
What is covered under the lifetime warranty?
The warranty covers manufacturing defects such as air bubbles, cracks that appear during normal use, or flaws in the glass. It does not cover damage from drops, impacts, or misuse. Register your purchase and keep the receipt to make a warranty claim easier.
