Quick answer

Choose the original MTN DEW Code Red Cherry drink mix for the classic full-sugar cherry soda experience, or go with the Zero Sugar version for the same cherry rush without the calories.

What's the difference?

Both MTN DEW Code Red Cherry drink mixes are made exclusively for SodaStream and turn sparkling water into a cherry-flavored soda at home. The key difference is the sweetener: the original uses sugar, while the Zero Sugar version uses artificial sweeteners to deliver the same cherry taste with zero calories. If you're watching your sugar intake or following a low-calorie diet, the Zero Sugar option is the clear choice. If you prefer the traditional taste and mouthfeel of sugar-sweetened soda, stick with the original.

Price and value

Both drink mixes come in a 4-pack of 440ml bottles and are priced similarly. The original is $21.74, while the Zero Sugar version is $21.16, a slight saving of about 58 cents. Both offer good value compared to buying individual cans of MTN DEW Code Red, especially if you already own a SodaStream sparkling water maker.

Trade-offs at a glance

  • Taste: The original MTN DEW Code Red has the classic sugar-sweetened cherry flavor. The Zero Sugar version uses artificial sweeteners to mimic that taste, but some people notice a slight difference in sweetness profile.
  • Calories & sugar: Original: contains sugar and calories. Zero Sugar: zero sugar and zero calories, making it a better fit for low-sugar or keto lifestyles. Check your daily sugar goals before choosing.
  • Price: The Zero Sugar 4-pack is $21.16, slightly cheaper than the original at $21.74. Both are comparable in cost per serving. The price difference is minimal, so let taste and dietary needs guide your choice.
