Quick answer
Choose Powr Up Gaming's NGPC Backlit LCD Mod Install service if you already own a compatible backlit LCD kit and want professional installation for your Neo Geo Pocket Color.
Why professional installation matters for the NGPC
The Neo Geo Pocket Color has a compact, tightly packed interior. Installing a backlit LCD kit requires careful handling of delicate ribbon cables and precise alignment of the new screen. A mistake can damage the console or the kit. Professional installation reduces that risk.
If you have never opened a handheld console or lack the right tools, paying for installation can save you time and frustration. You also get the mod done right the first time, with no trial and error.
Trade-off: you must supply the kit
This service is for customers who already have a backlit LCD kit. You purchase the kit separately, then send it with your NGPC to Powr Up Gaming. That means you need to research and buy a compatible kit yourself.
If you prefer a turnkey solution where the modder sources everything, this option may not be ideal. You will need to spend extra time selecting and ordering the kit.
Decision rules
- Do you already have a backlit LCD kit?: If yes, this service is a direct match. If no, you need to buy a kit first before ordering installation. Check that your kit is designed for the NGPC before purchasing the install service.
- Are you comfortable with handheld disassembly?: If you are not confident soldering or routing cables, professional installation avoids damage. If you are experienced, you might prefer to do it yourself.
- Do you want a warranty on the installation?: Powr Up Gaming guarantees their work. If something goes wrong during installation, they handle it. Self-install leaves you responsible for any mistakes. Consider the value of peace of mind versus the cost of the service.
