Quick Answer
Choose the North NVIDIA Edition if you want a lower starting price and prefer NVIDIA graphics; choose the AMD Edition if you're set on an AMD platform and are willing to pay more for that configuration.
What Sets the Two Editions Apart
The MAINGEAR North line offers two platform paths: the NVIDIA Edition and the AMD Edition. Both are custom desktop PCs, meaning you configure the build rather than buying a fixed system. The core difference is the platform direction, which affects the starting price and the component choices available to you.
Because both are custom builds, the final specifications depend on your selections. The catalog lists the NVIDIA Edition at a lower starting price than the AMD Edition, so your budget will likely be the first deciding factor.
Price vs. Platform Preference
The NVIDIA Edition starts at USD 1,821.44 (compared to USD 2,846.00), while the AMD Edition starts at USD 2,508.43 (compared to USD 3,533.00). That's a noticeable price gap, and it reflects the platform choice rather than a quality difference.
If you have a strong preference for AMD processors and motherboards, the AMD Edition is the natural fit. If you're flexible and want to keep the starting cost lower, the NVIDIA Edition gives you a more accessible entry point.
Trade-Offs to Consider
- Starting Price: The NVIDIA Edition starts at USD 1,821.44, while the AMD Edition starts at USD 2,508.43. If budget is your priority, the NVIDIA Edition is the more affordable entry point. Confirm your maximum budget before exploring configurations.
- Platform Preference: The AMD Edition is built around AMD platform options, which is ideal if you prefer AMD CPUs and motherboards. The NVIDIA Edition is associated with the NVIDIA line, suiting those who favor NVIDIA GPUs or want a more flexible starting point. List the specific CPU and GPU features you need to narrow your choice.
- Customization Flexibility: Both are custom PCs, so you can adjust components to your needs. The choice is less about fixed specs and more about which platform base you want to start from. Use the configurator to compare the same target build on both platforms to see the real price difference.
