Quick Answer
Attach the Porter Stuff Pocket to your pack's daisy chains using the split bar sternum buckle for instant, lightweight extra storage that keeps snacks, clothing, or small gear within easy reach.
Why Use the Porter Stuff Pocket?
The Porter Stuff Pocket is designed to expand your pack's carrying capacity without adding noticeable weight. Its Dyneema® Composite Hybrid material and hexagonal grid mesh make it both durable and breathable, ideal for items you need to access quickly.
Trade-Off: Limited Weight Capacity
Because the pocket attaches via daisy chains, it's best for lightweight items like snacks, a rain shell, or a hat. Avoid overloading it with heavy gear, as the attachment points are not designed to bear significant weight.
How to Attach and Use the Porter Stuff Pocket
- Locate Daisy Chains on Your Pack: Identify the daisy chain webbing loops on the front or side of your Porter pack. The pocket attaches to these loops, so make sure they are clear and accessible. Common mistake: Attaching to a non-daisy chain loop may cause the pocket to slip or tear.
- Thread the Split Bar Sternum Buckle: Open the buckle and slide the webbing through the daisy chain loop, then close the buckle to secure it. Repeat for each attachment point (usually two or three). Checkpoint: Ensure the buckle clicks shut firmly; a loose buckle can lead to the pocket detaching mid-hike.
- Load and Adjust the Pocket: Place your items inside the pocket, then cinch the compression straps if available to keep contents snug. Position the pocket so it doesn't interfere with arm movement or pack balance. Common mistake: Overstuffing the pocket can strain the daisy chain attachments and make items hard to retrieve.
