Quick Answer
Wash your PrimeMan Brief in cold water on a gentle cycle, then air dry flat to preserve the MicroModal fabric and elastic waistband. Avoid fabric softener and high heat.
Why the PrimeMan Brief Needs Special Care
The PrimeMan Brief uses a MicroModal/Lycra blend that is super soft and stretchy, but it can be damaged by hot water, high heat drying, and harsh detergents. The AnatoMax Pouch and logo waistband also benefit from gentle handling to avoid warping or irritation.
5 Steps to Care for Your PrimeMan Brief
- Step 1: Turn the brief inside out: Before washing, turn the brief inside out. This protects the outer fabric and the printed care label from abrasion. Inside-out washing reduces pilling and keeps the logo waistband looking new.
- Step 2: Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle: Use cold water (below 86°F / 30°C) and select the gentle or delicate cycle on your machine. Hot water can weaken the elastic and shrink the MicroModal fibers. Cold water preserves the 4-way stretch and prevents fading.
- Step 3: Skip fabric softener and bleach: Fabric softener coats the MicroModal fibers, reducing moisture-wicking and breathability. Bleach damages the Lycra elastic. Use a mild, color-safe detergent instead. Avoid fabric softener to keep the fabric's natural performance.
- Step 4: Air dry flat, never in a dryer: Lay the brief flat on a drying rack or towel, away from direct sunlight. High heat from a dryer breaks down the elastic and can cause the waistband to lose its shape. Air drying flat is the single most important step for longevity.
- Step 5: Store loosely folded: Fold the brief gently and store it in a drawer without heavy stacking. Avoid hanging by the waistband, which can stretch it out over time. Loose storage prevents unnecessary stretching of the elastic.
