Quick answer
The Rainbow Fashion Magnetic Tin Playset from Mudpuppy is a portable, screen-free magnetic dress-up toy that lets kids ages 3-4 mix and match colorful outfits on a fox and bunny character.
Why choose a magnetic tin playset?
Unlike traditional paper dolls or digital dress-up apps, a magnetic tin playset offers tactile, mess-free fun. The magnets stay inside the tin, so pieces don't scatter, and the compact size makes it ideal for car rides or restaurant waits. It encourages fine motor skills and creative thinking without needing batteries or a screen.
What age is this toy for?
Mudpuppy designs this set for ages 4 and up, but many 3-year-olds enjoy it with adult supervision. The magnets are small enough to require careful handling, which builds dexterity. If your child still mouths toys, keep the set for later—safety first.
How does it compare to other magnetic dress-up toys?
This set stands out for its themed characters (fox and bunny) and rainbow-colored magnets. The tin is durable and easy to store, unlike larger magnetic boards. However, it offers fewer pieces than some competitors, so children who love variety might want additional sets later.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe for a 3-year-old?
The set is recommended for ages 4+, but many 3-year-olds can play with it under supervision. Check that your child doesn't put magnets in their mouth, as they are small.
How many outfits can you make?
With 3 sheets of magnets and two characters, children can create dozens of combinations. The magnets mix and match across both the fox and bunny, encouraging open-ended play.
Can it be used as a travel toy?
Yes. The tin is 6.25" x 8.75" and closes securely, keeping all magnets inside. It's perfect for car trips, waiting rooms, or quiet time at home. Store the tin flat to avoid magnets sticking to the lid incorrectly.
Does it require batteries or Wi-Fi?
No. This is a completely screen-free, non-digital toy. Children use their hands and imagination to dress up the characters.
What if my child loses a magnet?
Because the set comes with multiple magnets, losing one or two won't ruin the play experience. You can also purchase replacement magnetic sheets from Mudpuppy if needed.
