Quick answer
If you want the most iconic presence and dramatic display, start with Virgo Shaka. For a more affordable entry with great articulation, Aries Mu offers the best value. Scorpio Milo sits in between with a striking scorpion theme.
Why the 1st Edition matters
First Edition releases from Bandai are the original runs of these Myth Cloth EX figures. They often come with the classic gold armor finish and the full set of accessories that define the character. Collectors prize them for their completeness and the nostalgia of owning the version that started the line. While later reissues may have minor tweaks, the 1st Edition is the one that captures the character as originally designed.
Budget and display goals
Your budget and display intent should drive your choice. If you are building a centerpiece display, the premium-priced Virgo Shaka delivers unmatched serenity and attack pose potential. If you are collecting multiple Gold Saints on a tighter budget, Aries Mu gives you a high-quality figure at a lower entry cost. Scorpio Milo offers a middle ground with a distinctive design that stands out on any shelf.
Decision rules for your first Gold Cloth
- Go with Virgo Shaka if: You want the most iconic Gold Saint with the most display versatility. Shaka's meditation pose and Tenbu Hōrin arm options let you switch between peaceful and powerful looks. This is the figure that commands attention in any collection.
- Go with Scorpio Milo if: You love a bold, aggressive design and want a figure that looks great in battle stances. Milo's Scarlet Needle pose is easy to recreate, and the scorpion-themed armor is one of the most distinctive in the Gold Cloth lineup.
- Go with Aries Mu if: You are starting your collection on a budget or want a calm, wise character that pairs well with other figures. Mu's Crystal Wall and Starlight Extinction poses add variety, and his lower price leaves room to add another Gold Saint sooner. If you plan to collect multiple Gold Saints, starting with Mu lets you build your set faster without sacrificing quality.
