Quick answer
Set up the Berlin Promo Tile by replacing one of your standard city tiles or adding it as an extra challenge. Follow the steps below to integrate it correctly with your base game components.
Why use the Berlin Promo Tile
The Berlin Promo Tile introduces a new city layout with unique room placements, forcing you to adapt your strategy. It's designed for experienced players who want a fresh puzzle without buying a full expansion.
Because it's a promo tile released in the Spielbox issue #1 2021 (English Edition), it does not include a rulebook. You'll need the base game rules and apply the tile's specific setup instructions provided here.
How to set up the Berlin Promo Tile
- 1. Prepare your base game: Set up Under Falling Skies as normal: place the base game board, choose your commander, and shuffle the alien deck. Do not start any invasion track yet. Make sure you have the base game rulebook handy—the promo tile does not include one.
- 2. Replace a standard city tile: Take one of the standard city tiles from the base game (e.g., the one with the easiest layout) and set it aside. Place the Berlin Promo Tile in its spot on the game board, oriented so the room icons match the board arrows. Common mistake: placing the tile upside down. Check that the arrow on the tile points toward the alien ship track.
- 3. Adjust your strategy: The Berlin tile has a different room arrangement than standard tiles. Plan your first few moves to secure key rooms early, as the alien threat may advance faster in this layout. If you find the tile too difficult, try it with an easier commander or swap back to a standard tile for that game.
