Quick Answer
To keep your Somerset Patriots Copa de la Diversion pennant looking its best, dust it regularly, spot-clean stains gently, and store it flat or rolled in a dry, dark place.
Why Pennant Care Matters
The large 12x30 inch size of this pennant makes it a bold statement piece for your fan cave or game day setup, but that also means more surface area to collect dust and get bumped. The printed fabric and stitched edges can fade, fray, or stain if not handled correctly.
Most pennant damage comes from direct sunlight, moisture, and improper folding. A little routine care will keep the Zorros de Somerset design crisp for seasons to come.
Pennant Care Steps
- Dust the Pennant Weekly: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a lint roller to gently wipe the front and back of the pennant. Start from the top and work downward to avoid pushing dust into the fabric fibers. A common mistake is rubbing too hard, which can smudge the print. Light pressure is all you need.
- Spot-Clean Stains Carefully: Dampen a clean white cloth with cool water and a drop of mild dish soap. Blot the stained area gently—never scrub. Rinse the cloth with plain water and blot again to remove soap residue. Let the pennant air-dry flat, away from direct heat. Avoid using bleach, alcohol, or any solvent-based cleaner; these can strip the ink or weaken the fabric.
- Store Flat or Rolled, Never Folded: When not on display, lay the pennant flat in a drawer or archival box, or roll it loosely around a cardboard tube. Folding creates permanent creases that can crack the printed design over time. If you must store it for a long period, wrap it in acid-free tissue paper before rolling to prevent color transfer.
- Display Out of Direct Sunlight: Hang the pennant on a wall that does not receive direct sun exposure, or use UV-filtering glass in a frame. Even indirect light can fade the Copa de la Diversion colors over several seasons. Rotating the pennant every few months helps the color age evenly if you cannot avoid a bright spot.
