Quick answer

The SquareHood Bullbar clicks onto the stock Fuji adapter (or the optional SquareHood adapter) to protect the GFX100RF lens from bumps. Install it in under a minute with no tools.

Why a bracket instead of a standard hood

The GFX100RF uses a bayonet-mounted bracket rather than a screw-in hood. The Bullbar mimics the design of the Fuji GS645S, giving you a circular guard that stays out of the frame while shielding the lens from accidental knocks. It also leaves the 49mm filter thread accessible, so you can still attach filters without removing the bracket.

How to install the SquareHood Bullbar on the GFX100RF

  1. Remove any existing hood or cap: Take off the stock lens cap or any third-party hood. The Bullbar mounts directly to the camera's bayonet adapter, so the mounting surface must be clean and unobstructed. Forgetting to remove the cap first is the most common hang-up.
  2. Align the Bullbar with the bayonet mount: Hold the Bullbar so its three bayonet tabs line up with the slots on the adapter (either the stock Fuji adapter or the SquareHood adapter). The bracket should sit flat and parallel to the lens barrel. If the bracket feels crooked, rotate it until the tabs match the slots — forcing it can damage the mount.
  3. Press and twist to lock: Push the Bullbar straight onto the adapter, then twist it clockwise about a quarter turn until you feel it click into place. The bracket should be snug with no wobble. A loose fit means the tabs aren't fully seated. Remove and repeat the alignment step.
  4. Test filter clearance (optional): If you plan to use a 49mm filter, screw it onto the lens before attaching the Bullbar, or check that the bracket's opening is clear. The Bullbar is designed to work with filters, but always verify that the filter ring doesn't bind against the bracket. Thicker filter rings may require a slim-profile filter to avoid contact.
