Installation steps
- 1. Clean the filter thread: Wipe the 39mm filter thread on your Summicron 35mm V3 with a clean, dry cloth. Dust or grit can scratch the thread or cause the hood to sit crooked. A dirty thread is the most common cause of a loose fit.
- 2. Screw on the SquareHood: Align the hood's threads with the lens thread and turn clockwise gently. Stop when you feel resistance—do not overtighten. The hood should sit flush and square against the lens barrel. If it feels tight immediately, you may be cross-threading. Back off and try again.
- 3. Attach the clip-on cap (optional): Snap the included plastic cap onto the front of the hood. It clicks into place and stays secure during transport. Remove it before shooting to avoid vignetting. The cap fits snugly—do not force it if it feels misaligned.
- 4. Verify the fit: Look through the viewfinder and check for any dark corners at your widest aperture. If you see vignetting, the hood may not be fully seated. Recheck step 2. A properly seated hood should show no obstruction in the frame.
