Quick answer
The Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon Surprise Box (Ding&Dent Retail Edition) includes the Almanac of Avalon, a Letter from Awaken Realms, and the ISS Vanguard Art Book — all at a discounted price of $6.49 (was $9.99). It's a budget-friendly grab bag for fans of the Tainted Grail universe, but note that the art book is not used in gameplay.
What's Actually in the Box
The Surprise Box is a retail ding & dent edition, meaning the packaging may show minor wear but the contents are intact. Inside, you get three items: the Almanac of Avalon (a lore companion), a Letter from Awaken Realms (a thematic note), and the ISS Vanguard Art Book (a separate art book from another game). None of these are required to play Tainted Grail, but they add flavor for collectors.
Why Buy a Ding & Dent Surprise Box?
The $6.49 price is a 35% discount off the $9.99 catalog price, making it an inexpensive way to add Tainted Grail memorabilia to your collection. However, because it's a surprise box, you don't get to choose the specific items — and the ISS Vanguard Art Book is unrelated to Tainted Grail, so it may feel like filler if you're not an ISS Vanguard fan.
Decision rules for buying the Tainted Grail Surprise Box
- Check the price gap: Compare the $6.49 sale price to the $9.99 catalog value. If you value the Almanac and letter at more than $3.50, the box is a good deal.
- Know the contents are fixed: You get exactly three items: the Almanac of Avalon, a Letter from Awaken Realms, and the ISS Vanguard Art Book. No random components or game pieces.
- Confirm your interest in lore over gameplay: The Almanac adds world-building flavor, but the art book is from a different game (ISS Vanguard) and won't aid Tainted Grail sessions. Buy only if you enjoy thematic extras. If you're a Tainted Grail completionist or a fan of Awaken Realms' art, this box is a low-risk add-on. Otherwise, skip it.
