Quick answer
The Mompush Ultimate 2 Bassinet Mattress is the direct replacement for your Ultimate 2 bassinet, offering a breathable, padded design with a removable cover for easy cleaning.
Why size matters for bassinet mattress replacement
A bassinet mattress must fit snugly to reduce suffocation risks. The Ultimate 2 Bassinet Mattress measures 30.3 x 12.6 x 1.6 inches, matching the bassinet frame exactly. Using a non-standard size can leave gaps or cause bunching, which compromises safety.
If you are replacing a worn or soiled mattress, sticking with the original dimensions ensures a proper fit without guesswork. Always measure your bassinet before ordering if you are considering a third-party option.
Comfort and breathability trade-offs
The Ultimate 2 Bassinet Mattress is designed for both comfort and airflow. Its padded construction supports your baby while the breathable materials help reduce overheating. However, a firmer mattress is recommended for infants to lower SIDS risk. This mattress strikes a balance—firm enough for safety but padded enough for comfort.
If your baby tends to sleep hot, the breathable design is a plus. But if you prefer an ultra-firm surface, you might consider a separate firm mattress topper—though that could affect fit.
Cleaning and maintenance considerations
Babies are messy, so easy cleaning is a priority. The removable mattress cover on the Ultimate 2 Bassinet Mattress makes it simple to wash away spills, drool, or diaper leaks. A waterproof mattress protector can add an extra layer of protection and extend the mattress life.
Avoid using harsh chemicals or soaking the mattress itself, as foam cores can trap moisture and develop mold. Spot clean and air dry thoroughly.
How to choose the right replacement mattress
- Check the dimensions: Measure your bassinet interior length, width, and depth. The Ultimate 2 Bassinet Mattress is 30.3 x 12.6 x 1.6 inches. A mattress that is too thick can raise the sleep surface above the bassinet sides; too thin can feel hard. Always match the original size for safety.
- Assess firmness and breathability: Infants need a firm, flat sleep surface. The Ultimate 2 mattress is padded but still firm enough for safe sleep. Its breathable construction helps regulate temperature. Firm and breathable is the standard for bassinet mattresses.
- Consider ease of cleaning: A removable, machine-washable cover saves time. The Ultimate 2 mattress cover is removable for easy cleaning. Use a waterproof protector to keep the foam core dry. Removable covers make maintenance simple.
- When to replace: Replace the mattress if it shows visible sagging, stains that won't come out, or if the cover is torn. Also replace if the mattress no longer fits snugly after repeated use. Replace at the first sign of wear or loss of firmness.
