Quick answer
Choose the Versa Blanket for lightweight backpacking or versatile use; pick the Horizon Overland Blanket for rugged car camping or outdoor activities where durability and water resistance matter.
Weight vs Durability: The Core Trade-off
The key difference between these two Klymit blankets comes down to their design priorities. The Versa Blanket is built for mobility—it weighs just 23 ounces and packs into its own foot box to double as a travel pillow. The Horizon Overland Blanket, meanwhile, is rugged and water-resistant, making it ideal for rough terrain or unexpected weather. Your choice depends on whether you prioritize packability or toughness.
Construction and Materials
The Versa Blanket uses 20D soft-touch polyester with Klymalite synthetic loft insulation, which provides warmth without bulk. It measures 58 x 80 inches—large enough for one person or to share. The Horizon Overland Blanket features a water-resistant, durable exterior and a soft fleece interior, designed to withstand heavy use. Neither blanket is rated for extreme cold, but both offer comfort in mild to cool conditions.
How to choose between them
- Versa Blanket: Best for backpacking, camping, or as a picnic blanket where weight and packability matter. It can also be used as a travel pillow or shared with a friend.
- Horizon Overland Blanket: Best for car camping, tailgating, or rugged outdoor use where water resistance and durability are priorities. The fleece interior adds comfort in cooler conditions.
- Important note for Horizon Overland Blanket: This is a clearance item with final sale—no returns, refunds, or exchanges. Be sure it fits your needs before purchasing. Check the return policy before buying.
