Quick answer
The Ek Chuah Mini-Expansion adds one new tribe and one new prophecy to Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar - Tribes & Prophecies, giving dedicated fans a fresh strategic twist. It is a rare promo originally given out at Essen Spiel 2013, so its value is mainly for collectors or players who want every possible variant.
What is in the box?
The Ek Chuah Mini-Expansion contains exactly two components: a new tribe tile and a new prophecy tile. There are no extra tokens, wheels, or rulebook changes beyond what the tribe and prophecy introduce. Because it was a giveaway item, the packaging is minimal and the expansion relies on the base Tribes & Prophecies rules.
Rarity and availability
This promo was distributed at Essen Spiel 2013 and has not been reprinted. That means finding a copy today usually requires secondary market sellers or trading. The low catalog price (around USD 3.04) reflects its original giveaway status, but actual market prices may be higher due to scarcity. If you are not a completionist, the content is modest.
Should you buy the Ek Chuah Mini-Expansion?
- You already own Tribes & Prophecies: The mini-expansion requires that expansion. If you do not have Tribes & Prophecies, this promo is unusable. Check that you have the base expansion before searching for this promo.
- You enjoy variety and new strategies: The new tribe and prophecy each add a distinct tactical option. If you play Tzolk'in often and want to freshen up your games without a full expansion, this promo delivers a small but meaningful change. Consider how often you play – if you only play occasionally, the base Tribes & Prophecies content may already offer enough variety.
- You are a collector: As a rare promo from 2013, the Ek Chuah Mini-Expansion is a natural addition for a complete Tzolk'in collection. Its low original price and limited distribution make it a sought-after item. Be prepared to search the secondary market; availability is not guaranteed.
