Quick answer
A Funko Art subscription cover is a special variant cover for comic books, featuring artwork inspired by Funko's signature Pop! style. It's a collectible option for fans who want a unique take on their favorite series, like the Back to the Future comic.
Why do Funko Art covers stand out?
Funko Art covers are designed to appeal to both comic readers and Funko collectors. The art style mimics the iconic Funko Pop! aesthetic, making the cover instantly recognizable and distinct from standard comic art.
These covers are often limited or subscription-exclusive, which can add to their collectibility. However, the interior story remains the same as the regular issue, so the value lies in the cover art itself.
Are Funko Art covers worth collecting?
If you enjoy Funko's style or want a visually unique addition to your comic collection, a Funko Art cover is a fun choice. They also make great display pieces, especially for fans of a particular series.
On the other hand, if you're strictly a story-driven reader, the variant cover may not add much value beyond the standard issue. Consider whether the art speaks to you before paying a premium.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a Funko Art subscription cover?
It's a variant cover for a comic book that features artwork in Funko's signature style. 'Subscription' often means it was available to readers who subscribed to the series, making it less common than the standard cover. Check if the cover is a subscription exclusive to gauge its rarity.
Does the Funko Art cover affect the story inside?
No. The cover is purely cosmetic; the interior story and pages are identical to the regular edition. The difference is only in the cover art. If you already own the standard issue, the Funko Art cover is an optional collectible, not a new story.
Should I buy a Funko Art cover comic?
Buy it if you're a fan of Funko's art style or want a unique display piece. Skip it if you're only interested in the story and already have the standard issue. Decide based on your collecting goals, not just the cover's novelty.
