Quick Answer
The Witcher First Encounter iam8bit Edition is a premium collectible that recreates the iconic opening fight with the kikimora. It's a must-have for dedicated Witcher fans who value exclusive art and display pieces, but casual buyers may find it too niche.
Why this edition stands out
The iam8bit exclusive colorway captures a moment that every Witcher fan remembers: the tense, nearly fatal encounter with the kikimora in the first episode. This isn't just a generic figure; it's a scene brought to life, with the creature bursting from the water and Geralt disarmed and fighting for survival.
The exclusive colorway means this version is distinct from any standard release, adding to its appeal for collectors who want something unique. The attention to detail in the design reflects the brutal, atmospheric tone of the Netflix series.
What you're paying for
At a catalog price of $174.99 (compared to $249.99), this edition is positioned as a premium item. You're paying for the exclusive design, the licensing with Netflix and iam8bit, and the collectible nature of the piece. It's not a cheap impulse buy, but for the right fan, the value is in the artistry and rarity.
The price also reflects the limited availability typical of iam8bit exclusives. If you miss this drop, you may have to pay resale prices, which can be significantly higher.
Decision Rules
- Are you a completionist collector?: If you collect all iam8bit exclusives or all Witcher merchandise, this is a non-negotiable addition. The exclusive colorway ensures it won't be in your collection otherwise. Check your existing collection to confirm you don't already have a similar piece.
- Do you value display over play?: This is a display piece, not a toy. If you want something to pose and play with, a standard figure might suit you better. But if you want a shelf centerpiece that tells a story, this fits.
- Is the price within your budget?: At $174.99, it's a significant spend. If you have the budget and the passion, it's worth it. If not, consider waiting for a sale or looking for secondary market deals, but beware of markups. Set a price alert to catch any discounts.
