Quick answer
Shuffle the 12 new Scavengers cards into your existing Vestige deck before starting a campaign or scenario. No other setup changes are needed.
Why the Scavengers Scrap Pack fits best during a new campaign
Adding expansion cards mid-campaign can unbalance the game if you draw a Scavenger card before your deck is ready for their resource-focused playstyle. Starting fresh gives you and your group a chance to adapt to their unique abilities from the beginning.
What the Scavengers bring to your game
Scavengers are equal parts hunters and hoarders who turn civilization’s broken remains into broken remains with purpose. This means they excel at finding value in scrap, but they can feel weaker if your strategy relies on direct combat or early aggression.
How to add the Scavengers Scrap Pack
- 1. Confirm you have the base Vestige game: The Scrap Pack is an expansion and cannot be played on its own. Check that your Vestige core set is complete before opening the pack. Playing without the base game will leave you unable to use the cards at all.
- 2. Shuffle the 12 Scavenger cards into the main deck: Open the pack and mix all cards evenly into your Vestige encounter or event deck (whichever your campaign uses). Do not separate or filter them out. If you add them to a side deck by mistake, they will never appear during normal draws.
- 3. Start a new campaign or scenario: Begin fresh to ensure the Scavengers appear naturally as you progress. Avoid inserting them mid-session to prevent sudden difficulty spikes. Adding mid-game can give some players an unfair advantage if they draw a Scavenger early.
- 4. Adjust your strategy for resource-focused play: Scavengers turn broken remains into usable items, so prioritize locations or actions that generate scrap. Direct combat may be less effective with these cards in the deck. If your group prefers aggressive tactics, consider skipping this pack or mixing it with combat-oriented expansions.
