Quick answer

The Bandai Animal Crossing Tomodachi Doll Figure Set gives you ten flocked soft-touch figures from New Horizons at a significant discount, but each figure is open-box and sold in a collectible window package.

Why open-box matters for this set

Some collectors worry that open-box means damaged or incomplete items. In the case of this set, open-box refers to the outer case or display box being opened — the individual figure packages remain sealed in their collectible window packaging. The flocked finish and soft-touch material are identical to the full-price version.

The trade-off is that you won't receive the original shipping carton or outer display box. If you plan to display the figures in their individual window packages, this makes no practical difference. If you wanted the sealed case for resale or gifting, you might prefer the full-price version.

Character variety vs. blind-box risk

A common myth is that a box of ten figures guarantees ten different villagers. Bandai does not specify the character lineup on the catalog listing, so you may receive duplicates. The set is ideal if you want a bulk collection of soft-touch Animal Crossing figures, but it is not a complete set of every character.

If you are chasing a specific villager, a blind-box approach or single-figure purchase may be more reliable. The value here is in the per-figure price, not in curated variety.

Myths vs. verdicts

  • Myth: Open-box means damaged figures: Each figure is in a sealed window package. Only the outer case is opened. The flocked finish and soft-touch material are identical to the full-price version.
  • Myth: A box of ten gives you ten different characters: Bandai does not guarantee a unique lineup. You may receive duplicates. The set is a bulk buy, not a complete character collection. If you need specific villagers, buy single figures instead.
  • Myth: The lower price means lower quality: The catalog price of USD 57.00 is 40% below the reference price of USD 95.00, but the figures themselves are identical in material and packaging to the full-price stock. The discount comes from the opened outer case, not from inferior figures.
