Quick Answer

Not all Mepal storage boxes are explicitly labeled microwave or freezer safe in the catalog. The EasyClip food storage box is described as leakproof and airtight, ideal for fridge or freezer storage, but no microwave claim is made. The Lumina box is marketed for storing and serving snacks and salads, with no mention of microwave or freezer use. Always check the specific product's label or manual before exposing it to extreme temperatures.

What the Catalog Tells Us

The Mepal Lumina storage box (250 ml) is described as ideal for storing and serving snacks and salads. The catalog does not mention microwave or freezer compatibility, so we cannot confirm those uses.

The EasyClip food storage box (700 ml) is highlighted for keeping fresh green salad perfectly sealed, with a closure that locks in freshness. It is described as leakproof and airtight, ideal for storing in the fridge or freezer. Again, no microwave safety claim is provided.

Why the Absence of a Claim Matters

When a manufacturer does not state microwave or freezer safety, it often means the product has not been tested for those conditions. Using it in ways not specified could damage the box or affect food safety.

For freezer use, the EasyClip's airtight seal is a positive sign, but without an explicit temperature range, we recommend using it only as directed. For microwave use, neither product is confirmed safe, so avoid microwaving unless the product label says otherwise.

Verdicts on Common Claims

  • Claim: Mepal storage boxes are microwave safe: No catalog fact confirms microwave safety for the Lumina or EasyClip lines. Do not microwave unless the product label explicitly states it is safe.
  • Claim: Mepal storage boxes are freezer safe: The EasyClip is described as ideal for freezer storage, but the Lumina is not. Freeze only the EasyClip, and always check the label for temperature limits.
  • Claim: All Mepal boxes are airtight and leakproof: Only the EasyClip is described as leakproof and airtight; the Lumina has no such claim. For liquid storage, choose the EasyClip over the Lumina.

Product Facts

  • Storage box Lumina 250 ml - Nordic blue: The Lumina storage box is ideal for storing and serving snacks and salads. This suggests it's designed for countertop or fridge use, not necessarily for microwave or freezer. Check the label before using it in extreme temperatures.
  • EasyClip food storage box 700 ml - Nordic black: The EasyClip food storage box is leakproof and airtight, ideal for storing in the fridge or freezer. The airtight seal helps maintain freshness in the fridge or freezer, but no microwave safety claim is made, so avoid microwaving unless confirmed.
