Quick answer
Choose the Cosmic Mothman if you prioritize rarity and a striking cosmic variant; pick the Chupacabra if you want a more affordable core figure that still captures the Cryptkins spirit.
Rarity and exclusivity
The Cosmic Mothman was created exclusively for WonderCon 2023 and limited to only 300 pieces. That makes it a true collector’s item, especially for fans of variant figures. The Chupacabra is part of the standard seven-figure core set, so it’s much easier to find and doesn’t carry the same scarcity premium.
Price and value
At a catalog comparison price of $24.99 (currently $17.24), the Cosmic Mothman costs more upfront but holds potential long-term value due to its low edition size. The Chupacabra, priced at $14.99 (currently $9.74), is a budget-friendly entry point that still delivers the same 5-inch vinyl quality and character design.
Display and aesthetic appeal
The Cosmic Mothman features a unique cosmic paint scheme that stands out on any shelf, especially if you’re building a themed variant display. The Chupacabra uses the standard Cryptkins color palette, which fits seamlessly with the rest of the core set. If you prefer a cohesive lineup, the Chupacabra is the safer bet; if you want a conversation piece, go with Mothman.
