Quick answer
Clean your glass butt plug set with warm water and mild soap before and after each use. For deeper sanitization, boil or wipe with a 10% bleach solution.
Why glass needs different care than silicone or metal
Glass is non-porous, which means it won't harbor bacteria like porous materials can. However, it can chip or crack if dropped or exposed to sudden temperature changes. Always inspect your plugs for any damage before cleaning, and avoid extreme hot or cold water.
Step-by-step cleaning routine for your glass butt plug set
- Rinse with warm water: Immediately after use, rinse the plug under warm (not hot) running water to remove lubricant and debris. Hot water can cause thermal shock; stick to warm.
- Wash with mild soap: Apply a small amount of mild, unscented soap to a clean cloth or your hands and gently wash the entire surface, including the base. Avoid abrasive scrubbers that could scratch the glass.
- Rinse and dry thoroughly: Rinse off all soap residue under warm water, then pat dry with a lint-free cloth or let air dry on a clean towel. Moisture can promote mold in storage, so ensure it's completely dry.
- Sanitize before first use or after sharing: Boil the plug in water for 3-5 minutes, or wipe it with a 10% bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) and rinse thoroughly. Do not boil glass that has been in cold water; let it come to room temperature first.
- Store safely: Place each plug in a separate soft pouch or wrap it in a clean cloth. Keep away from hard objects that could cause nicks or cracks. Storing plugs together without padding can lead to scratches or chips.
