Quick answer
Clean your 26-inch rubber snake with mild soap and water, then store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent cracking and fading.
Why rubber snakes need special care
Unlike plush toys, rubber toys can crack or become sticky if exposed to harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures. The Wild Republic Rock Python's realistic paint and texture can also fade if cleaned incorrectly. Gentle handling preserves its lifelike appearance.
Large rubber toys, such as the 26-inch snake, are more prone to bending stress during storage. Proper support prevents permanent creases or warping.
Step-by-step cleaning and storage guide
- Prepare a mild cleaning solution: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with lukewarm water in a bowl. Avoid bleach, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners, as they can strip the paint or dry out the rubber. Test the solution on a small hidden area first.
- Gently wipe the snake: Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the soapy water, wring it out well, and wipe the entire snake. Pay attention to textured areas where dust collects. Do not submerge the toy, as water can seep into any small openings and cause mold. Use a separate damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
- Air dry completely: Lay the snake flat on a clean towel and let it air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Drying in a well-ventilated room prevents moisture from being trapped. Do not use a hair dryer or radiator. Check that the underside is fully dry before moving to storage.
- Store in a cool, dry place: Coil the snake loosely in a plastic bin or hang it on a wide hook. Avoid tight folds that can create permanent creases. Keep it away from windows and heaters to prevent UV damage and rubber deterioration. Add silica gel packets to the storage bin to absorb excess humidity.
