Quick answer
To clean your Mudventure Dog Coat ECO without damaging its lightweight, unlined design, hand wash it in cool water with a mild detergent, then air dry away from direct heat.
Why cleaning matters for an unlined raincoat
The Mudventure Dog Coat ECO is designed to be light and comfortable for travel, camping, or keeping in your backpack. Because it has no lining, mud and dirt can cling directly to the outer fabric and seams. Regular cleaning prevents grit from grinding into the material, which helps the coat stay waterproof and flexible longer.
Step-by-step cleaning guide
- Shake off loose mud and dirt: Before washing, take the coat outside and shake it vigorously or brush it with a soft brush to remove dried mud and debris. This prevents grit from being ground into the fabric during washing. Do not rub wet mud into the fabric; let it dry first, then brush it off.
- Hand wash in cool water with mild detergent: Fill a basin or sink with cool water and add a small amount of mild, non-detergent soap (like a gentle wool wash or a specialized outdoor gear cleaner). Submerge the coat and gently agitate it with your hands. Focus on muddy areas, but do not scrub hard. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until no soap remains. Avoid hot water, bleach, or fabric softener — they can damage the waterproof coating and the fabric itself.
- Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight: After rinsing, gently squeeze out excess water without wringing or twisting the coat. Hang it on a padded hanger or lay it flat on a clean towel in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight and away from radiators or heaters. Allow it to dry completely before storing. Do not machine dry or place near a heat source; high heat can shrink or warp the unlined fabric.
