Quick answer
To identify the G.I. Joe ReAction Cobra Mortal figure, check for the signature red and chrome colorway, the 3.75" scale with articulated joints, and the official Super7 ReAction packaging.
Why the colorway matters
The Cobra Mortal figure is instantly recognizable by its red and chrome colorway, inspired by the vintage Argentine G.I. Joe action figure. This specific color combination is a key identifier because it distinguishes it from other Cobra figures that may use more muted or standard colors.
If you're examining a figure that looks similar but has a different color scheme, it's likely not the authentic Cobra Mortal. Always compare the colors directly to official product images or a trusted reference.
Scale and articulation check
Authentic G.I. Joe ReAction figures are made in the 3.75" scale, which is the classic size for the line. The figure should have articulation points at the neck, shoulders, and hips, allowing for basic posing.
If a figure is significantly larger or smaller, or if it has limited or no articulation, it may be a knockoff or a different product line. Check the joints to ensure they move smoothly and match the expected design.
Step-by-step identification guide
- Check the packaging: Look for the official Super7 ReAction branding and the Cobra Mortal name on the card. The packaging should feature the figure's artwork and the 'ReAction' logo. If the packaging lacks the ReAction branding, it's not an authentic Super7 release.
- Inspect the colorway: Examine the figure for the signature red and chrome colorway. The red should be vibrant, and the chrome parts should have a metallic finish. If the colors are dull or swapped, the figure is likely a custom or counterfeit.
- Verify scale and articulation: Measure the figure to confirm it's approximately 3.75 inches tall. Test the articulation points at the neck, shoulders, and hips to ensure they move as expected. A figure that's too tall or lacks articulation is not a standard ReAction figure.
- Look for the accessory: The Cobra Mortal figure comes with a specific accessory (as described on the packaging). Check that the accessory is present and matches the official design. Missing or different accessories can indicate a used or incomplete figure.
