Quick answer

Replacing the handle and diaphragm on your Lansinoh manual pump restores proper suction and reduces hand fatigue. Follow these steps to swap the parts in minutes.

When to replace the handle and diaphragm

If your manual pump feels harder to squeeze or the suction seems weak, the silicone diaphragm may be worn or the handle may have lost its shape. Lansinoh recommends replacing these parts every 3–6 months with regular use. The handle and diaphragm set includes the handle, silicone diaphragm disk and stem, and works with the milk valve to create proper suction.

Steps to replace the handle and diaphragm

  1. Remove the old handle and diaphragm: Pull the handle away from the pump body. Gently remove the silicone diaphragm disk and stem from the pump's valve area. Discard the old parts. Check the milk valve for cracks or debris while the diaphragm is off.
  2. Insert the new diaphragm: Place the new silicone diaphragm disk into the pump body so it sits flat over the valve. Push the stem through the center opening until it clicks into place. If the stem doesn't seat firmly, suction will be weak.
  3. Attach the new handle: Align the handle's hinge with the pump body and press down until it snaps securely. Test by squeezing the handle a few times to confirm smooth movement. A loose handle may cause air leaks; re-seat it if you hear a hissing sound.
