Quick Answer
Open the box, hand each player a dry-erase banana and marker, shuffle the prompt cards, and read the first question aloud. The player whose guess lands closest to the group's average wins the round.
What You Need to Know Before You Start
Perfect Split is a party game about reading your friends, not doing math. You don't need to calculate anything—just guess what the group thinks. The game works best with 4 to 10 players, and each round takes about 2 minutes.
The box includes 150 prompt cards, dry-erase bananas, markers, and a scoring pad. The bananas are the only writing surface, so keep them clean between rounds.
Perfect Split Setup Steps
- Unbox and Distribute Materials: Open the box and give each player one dry-erase banana and one marker. Place the prompt cards and scoring pad in the center of the table. Common mistake: Forgetting to test the markers on the banana first. Wipe a small corner to ensure they write and erase cleanly.
- Choose the First Reader: Pick a player to read the first prompt card. The reader reads the question aloud so everyone can hear. The reader does not write a guess this round. Checkpoint: The reader should not look at the card's answer side yet—it's only for scoring later.
- Write Your Guess: Each other player writes a number guess on their banana. The guess should be what they think the average answer will be, not their own opinion. Common mistake: Players often write their personal answer instead of predicting the group average. Remind everyone: it's about reading the room.
- Reveal and Score: All players show their bananas at the same time. The reader calculates the average of all guesses. The player whose guess is closest to the average wins the round and scores a point. Checkpoint: If two players tie, both score a point. Use the scoring pad to track points across rounds.
- Rotate the Reader: After each round, pass the reader role to the next player clockwise. Shuffle the used prompt card back into the deck or set it aside if you prefer fresh cards. Common mistake: Forgetting to erase bananas between rounds. Wipe them clean before the next prompt to avoid confusion.
