Quick answer
To use the CORKCICLE Cup Straw Lid, cut the included straw to your desired length, screw the lid onto a compatible Kids Cup or Commuter Cup, and enjoy your drink. Proper straw cutting and lid alignment are key to a leakproof seal.
Why straw length matters
The Cup Straw Lid includes two BPA-free plastic straws that you cut to fit your cup. If the straw is too long, it may not sit flush inside the lid, causing it to pop up or leak. If too short, it won't reach the bottom of the cup, leaving liquid behind. Trim a little at a time and test fit before cutting more.
Compatible cups and limitations
This lid works with all Kids Cups and 9oz and 17oz Commuter Cups. It does not fit standard CORKCICLE tumblers, wine cups, or larger bottles. If you need a lid for a 25oz or 40oz tumbler, look for the Cruiser Lid or Cocktail Shaker Lid instead.
Step-by-step instructions
- 1. Choose your cup and straw: Select a compatible cup (Kids Cup, 9oz Commuter Cup, or 17oz Commuter Cup). Take one of the two included BPA-free plastic straws. Hold it next to the cup to estimate the length needed—it should reach the bottom but not stick out above the lid. Cut too short and you'll leave liquid behind. Cut too long and the lid won't seal.
- 2. Cut the straw to length: Using sharp scissors, cut the straw at a 90-degree angle at your estimated length. A clean, straight cut helps the straw seat properly inside the lid. Test fit by inserting the straw into the cup and placing the lid on top—the straw should sit just below the lid's top opening. Trim a little at a time. You can always cut more, but you cannot add length back.
- 3. Screw on the lid and test for leaks: Align the lid's threads with the cup's threads and turn clockwise until snug. Do not overtighten. Fill the cup with water, close the straw opening with your finger, and tilt the cup upside down. If water drips, the lid may not be fully seated or the straw is too long. A properly seated lid should not leak when tipped. If it does, check the straw length and re-seat the lid.
- 4. Enjoy and clean: Drink through the straw as usual. After use, hand wash the lid and straw with warm soapy water. The lid is not dishwasher safe. Replace straws if they become cracked or warped. Hand washing extends the life of the lid and straws. Avoid boiling or microwave cleaning.
