Quick answer
A nano suction sheet lets you hold leather securely on flat surfaces without clamps or adhesive, making it ideal for cutting, tooling, or assembly tasks.
Why use a suction sheet instead of clamps
Traditional clamps can mar or compress leather, especially on softer or finished pieces. A nano suction sheet uses microscopic suction cups to grip the leather evenly across its surface, leaving no residue or sticky feel. It also frees up both hands for tooling or stitching.
Limitations to know before starting
The adhesive backside sticks best to non-porous surfaces like glass, metal, acrylic, or mirrors. Porous surfaces (wood, unfinished concrete) will reduce grip. Also, the sheet works best on smooth, flat leather; heavily textured or very thick leather may not hold as securely.
How to use a nano suction sheet for leathercraft
- Prepare your work surface: Wipe down a non-porous surface (glass, acrylic, or metal) with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust and oil. Press the adhesive back of the Nano Suction Sheet firmly onto the surface, smoothing out any air bubbles. If the sheet does not stick well, the surface may be too porous or dirty. Try a different non-porous area.
- Position the leather on the sheet: Lay your leather piece flat on the exposed side of the sheet. Press down evenly with your palm, starting from the center and working outward. The microscopic suction cups will grip the leather and hold it in place. For thick or curved leather, apply pressure for 5-10 seconds to improve grip. If the leather shifts, the surface may need re-cleaning.
- Work on the leather: Cut, tool, stitch, or glue as needed. The sheet keeps the leather from sliding, so you can use both hands for precision work. The hold is secure but not permanent—lift the leather gently when done. Avoid dragging sharp tools sideways across the sheet; cut straight down to prevent tearing the suction cups.
- Remove and store the sheet: Peel the leather off the sheet slowly. To remove the sheet from the surface, lift one corner and pull gently. Rinse the sheet with water and let it air dry before storing it flat. The suction cups regain grip once dry. Do not fold or crease the sheet during storage—this can damage the microscopic cups and reduce future grip.
