How to Use the Inventors Kickstarter Promo Tiles in Your Game

Quick answer

The Inventors: Kickstarter Promo Tiles add Research, Workshop, and Pass tiles to your game. Use them immediately after setup by shuffling the Research and Workshop tiles into their respective decks, and placing Pass tiles as described below.

The Inventors: Kickstarter Promo Tiles include 3 Research Tiles, 4 Workshop Tiles, and 2 Pass Tiles. These tiles were originally part of the 2024 Kickstarter campaign and are not included in the retail version of Inventors of the South Tigris. They introduce new strategic options without changing the core rules.

1. Shuffle Research Tiles into the Research deck: At the start of the game, take the 3 new Research Tiles and shuffle them into the existing Research deck. This ensures they appear randomly during the game. Do not separate them; mixing them evenly maintains balance.
2. Shuffle Workshop Tiles into the Workshop deck: Similarly, add the 4 new Workshop Tiles to the Workshop deck and shuffle thoroughly. These tiles provide alternative upgrades or abilities. Check that no tile duplicates an existing one to avoid confusion.
3. Place Pass Tiles near the game board: The 2 Pass Tiles are not shuffled into any deck. Instead, place them face-up near the game board where all players can see them. They function as optional bonuses that players can acquire. A common mistake is treating them like other tiles; they are separate and claimed only through specific actions.
4. Use Pass Tiles only when instructed: Pass Tiles are activated when a player chooses to pass during their turn or meets a condition specified on the tile. Refer to the tile text for exact timing. If the tile text is unclear, default to the game's standard passing rules.
5. Play a test round to verify integration: After setup, play one practice round to confirm all tiles are working as intended. This helps spot any rules conflicts early. If a tile seems overpowered, remember it is optional—you can remove it if it unbalances your group.
