Quick answer

If you prefer a higher chance of getting your favorite character and a more playful vibe, go with NAMI Midnight Disco; if you're drawn to a dreamy aesthetic and don't mind a tougher secret chase, choose NAMI Strange Dream Records.

Theme and aesthetic differences

The Midnight Disco series leans into a retro-funk nightlife vibe, with figures that feel energetic and party-ready. Strange Dream Records, on the other hand, wraps NAMI in a surreal, dreamlike atmosphere that suits collectors who love storytelling and whimsy.

Your choice here is about mood: disco for high-energy display pieces, dream for a softer, more introspective shelf presence.

Price and value considerations

At $12.23, Midnight Disco sits slightly above Strange Dream Records at $10.36. The extra cost might be worth it if the disco theme resonates more, but budget-conscious collectors can get a full set of dreams for less.

Remember that blind boxes are a gamble: you pay for the chance, not a guaranteed figure. Factor in the possibility of duplicates when planning your spend.

Rarity and chase odds

Strange Dream Records offers 8 regulars plus 1 secret, with a 1/8 chance for any regular and a steep 1/144 chance for the secret. That makes the secret a true grail for dedicated hunters.

Midnight Disco doesn't list its odds in the catalog, so you can't calculate your chances as precisely. If you're a completionist, that uncertainty might be a drawback.

Trade-offs to weigh

  • Theme preference: Choose Midnight Disco for a lively, retro party aesthetic; choose Strange Dream Records for a dreamy, artistic narrative.
  • Budget and price: Strange Dream Records costs less per box ($10.36 vs. $12.23), so it's friendlier for bulk buying or starting a collection. If you plan to buy several boxes, the price gap adds up—calculate your total budget first.
  • Rarity and chase: Strange Dream Records has clear odds (1/8 regular, 1/144 secret), while Midnight Disco doesn't disclose probabilities, making the secret a wildcard. If hitting the secret is your goal, Strange Dream Records gives you a measurable target; otherwise, enjoy the surprise.
