Quick answer
The Negotiator Pack Series 1 adds 10 exclusive Negotiator Cards originally offered through the Hostage Negotiator Kickstarter campaign. It's a small promotional expansion that provides new negotiation options but is not required to enjoy the base game.
Why this pack is different from other expansions
Unlike Abductor Packs or Alternate Finale Packs that introduce new scenarios or endings, the Negotiator Pack Series 1 focuses solely on the player's toolkit. The 10 cards it contains are all Negotiator Cards – the abilities and assets you use during hostage negotiations. This makes it a pure gameplay-enhancement pack rather than a content expansion.
Compatibility and limitations
These cards are designed to work with the base Hostage Negotiator game. They add variety but do not change the core rules. Because this was a Kickstarter promo, the cards are not widely available in regular retail channels, which can make them harder to find. The pack is also small compared to larger expansions, so value depends on how much you want those specific card options.
Decision rules for the Negotiator Pack Series 1
- Check card variety needs: If you have played the base game several times and want fresh negotiation abilities without buying a full Abductor Pack, these 10 cards offer a low-cost injection of variety.
- Understand the promotional nature: This pack was a Kickstarter exclusive. If you find it sold separately, it may be a leftover or secondary-market listing. Confirm the condition and that the 10 cards are intact before purchasing. Check the listing details to ensure you are getting the complete set of 10 cards.
- Assess value vs. other expansions: At its catalog comparison price of USD 7.00, this is a small expansion. Compare it to Abductor Packs that add new kidnappers and scenarios – if you prefer more narrative content, an Abductor Pack might offer more replay value for a similar cost. Prioritize Abductor Packs if you want new scenarios, not just new player cards.
