Quick answer
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap to protect the Sakura blossom print. Never machine wash or bleach, and store dry to avoid mildew.
Why the Sakura print affects washing
The Shadow the Hedgehog Picnic Blanket from the SEGA Sakura range features a large printed design of Shadow surrounded by pink Sakura blossoms. The print is not colorfast to hot water or heavy agitation, so machine washing can cause fading or bleeding.
The blanket is made from a standard picnic-grade polyester fabric. It is intended for outdoor use but not for rough laundering. Spot cleaning preserves the design and the blanket's structure.
Frequently asked questions
Can I machine wash the picnic blanket?
No. Machine washing can damage the printed design. Instead, spot clean stains with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Rinse with a clean damp cloth and air dry flat.
How do I remove stubborn stains?
Apply a tiny amount of gentle dish soap or laundry detergent directly to the stain. Rub gently with a soft brush or cloth. Rinse thoroughly with a damp cloth. Avoid scrubbing hard – it can lift the print. Test any cleaner on a hidden corner first to check colorfastness.
How should I dry and store the blanket?
Always air dry flat indoors, away from direct sunlight. Do not use a dryer or heater. Once completely dry, fold loosely and store in a cool, dry place. Avoid plastic bags – use a cloth bag or just a shelf. Make sure the blanket is bone-dry before storing to prevent mildew.
Can I use the blanket on wet grass?
Yes, but the blanket is water-resistant only for light moisture. Prolonged contact with wet ground will make the fabric damp. Lay a waterproof groundsheet underneath if the grass is very wet. Shake off debris and dry the blanket as soon as possible after use.
Is the blanket safe for picnics?
Yes, it is designed as a picnic blanket. However, it is not a drop cloth for sharp objects. Place food and drinks on a separate mat to avoid spills and stains. The blanket is easy to fold and carry.
