Quick answer

Set up The Search for UAPs by giving each player a role card and a hand of evidence cards, then take turns presenting clues to identify the UAP before the timer runs out.

What makes this game different

Unlike many party games that rely on trivia or charades, The Search for UAPs asks players to collaboratively investigate a mystery using limited information. The game works best with 4–8 players and takes about 30–45 minutes per round.

Common setup mistake

New groups often shuffle the UAP identity card into the evidence deck by accident. Keep the UAP card separate until the reveal phase, or you will spoil the mystery for everyone.

How to set up and play The Search for UAPs

  1. 1. Choose the lead investigator: One player takes the lead role and reads the UAP identity card silently. Do not show the card to anyone else. The lead cannot participate in guessing — their job is to answer yes/no questions only.
  2. 2. Deal evidence cards: Shuffle the evidence deck and deal 3 cards to each other player. These cards contain clues about the UAP, such as location, shape, or witness reports. Players may look at their own cards but should not show them to the lead investigator.
  3. 3. Start the questioning round: Set a timer for 10 minutes. Players take turns asking the lead one yes/no question about the UAP. The lead answers based on the identity card. A common mistake is asking vague questions like 'Is it big?' — encourage specific questions such as 'Was it seen over water?'
  4. 4. Present the final theory: When time is up or a player thinks they know the UAP, that player states their theory aloud. The lead reveals the identity card. If no one guesses correctly, the group can discuss which clues were misleading and replay with a new lead.

What you get in the box

  • The Search for UAPs: The game includes role cards, evidence cards, and a UAP identity card based on real-world sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena over the past 100 years. This means each round feels grounded in actual reports, making the deduction process more engaging than a purely fictional mystery.
