Quick Answer

Add the Pluto Promo Card to your SETI game as a special event card that introduces a unique scoring opportunity tied to the outer solar system. Follow the steps below to integrate it correctly.

What the Pluto Promo Card Does

The Pluto Promo Card is an event card for SETI that was originally available at SPIEL 2024. It adds a new objective related to the dwarf planet, giving players an extra way to earn points if they complete the associated mission. Because it is a promo item, it is not included in the base game and must be added manually.

Before You Add It

Check that your SETI game is complete and that you have the standard event card deck ready. The Pluto Promo Card is designed to fit into the existing event card slot without requiring any rule changes. If you are unsure about the card's condition, inspect it for any wear before shuffling it into the deck.

How to Integrate the Pluto Promo Card

  1. Step 1: Shuffle into the Event Deck: Take the Pluto Promo Card and shuffle it into the standard SETI event card deck before the game begins. Make sure it is evenly distributed so it appears randomly during play. Common mistake: placing the card on top of the deck, which makes it predictable. Always shuffle thoroughly.
  2. Step 2: Reveal at the Start of a Round: When the Pluto Promo Card is drawn during the event phase, read it aloud and place it face up near the board. The card will specify a condition or mission related to Pluto that players can complete to earn bonus points. Checkpoint: confirm the card's condition is clear to all players before proceeding with the round.
  3. Step 3: Resolve the Card's Effect: Follow the instructions on the card. Typically, the first player to meet the condition (e.g., placing a probe in a specific zone) claims the bonus. If no one meets it by the end of the game, the card is discarded without effect. Common mistake: forgetting to check the condition at the end of the game. Set a reminder to review unresolved event cards.
