Quick answer
The Get Lifted 20th Anniversary Edition is a 2-disc vinyl pressing of John Legend's debut album, and the main reason to choose it over a standard copy is the bonus cut 'So High' Cloud 9 Remix featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill. Buy it if you already love the album or want the bonus track on vinyl. Skip it if you need a CD, a digital download, or a single-LP pressing.
What the 2-disc format actually changes
A 2-disc vinyl release splits the album across four sides instead of squeezing it onto one LP. That matters for two practical reasons: longer sides can hold more music without cramming grooves together, and you get a dedicated place for the bonus cut. The 20th Anniversary Edition uses that room for 'So High' Cloud 9 Remix featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill, which is not on the original single-disc pressing.
The tradeoff is handling. Two discs mean four sides to flip and a heavier package to store. If you usually stream music and only occasionally put on a record, the extra flipping is a minor annoyance. If you already own a single-LP copy, the only reason to upgrade is the bonus remix and the anniversary presentation.
The tracklist and the bonus track
The album runs across Side A and Side B, with the bonus remix placed after the original tracklist. The core songs that made Get Lifted a GRAMMY winner are all here: 'Used to Love U,' 'Ordinary People,' and 'Let's Get Lifted.' If you are buying this for the hits, a standard pressing covers you. If you want the Lauryn Hill remix on vinyl, this is the version to get.
One limitation: the catalog listing does not specify the exact pressing weight, remastering credits, or whether a download code is included. If any of those details are dealbreakers, confirm them with the store before ordering rather than assuming.
Pairing the vinyl with merch
If you are buying the 20th Anniversary Edition as a gift, a small merch add-on can make it feel more complete. The Get Lifted Tour Tote is a low-cost extra that matches the album's era and gives the recipient something usable beyond the record itself. For holiday gifting, the A Legendary Christmas T-Shirt or the Legendary Santa Hat work as seasonal companions, though neither is tied to Get Lifted specifically.
Legendary Santa Hat
Keep sizing in mind: the T-Shirt runs unisex in S through 2XL, while the Santa Hat is one size fits most. The tote has no size options, which makes it the safest add-on when you are unsure about fit.
How to decide between this and a standard copy
The decision comes down to one question: do you want the 'So High' Cloud 9 Remix on vinyl? If yes, the 2-disc 20th Anniversary Edition is the only version in this catalog that includes it. If no, a standard pressing or a digital copy will save you money and shelf space.
Also consider your playback setup. A 2-disc set takes more effort to play through, so it suits listeners who enjoy the ritual of flipping records. If you mostly listen in the car or through a phone, a physical 2-disc set may sit unplayed.
Decision rules for buying the 20th Anniversary Edition
- You want the Lauryn Hill remix on vinyl: The 'So High' Cloud 9 Remix featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill is included on this 2-disc edition. Buy this edition. No other version in the catalog lists that bonus track.
- You already own a standard Get Lifted LP: The main upgrade is the bonus remix and the anniversary packaging. The core album tracks are the same. Upgrade only if the bonus track matters to you. Otherwise keep your existing copy.
- You need a CD or digital file: This is a vinyl-only 2-disc release. The catalog does not list a CD or download version of the 20th Anniversary Edition. Choose a different format if you do not play vinyl.
- You are buying as a gift and do not know their setup: Vinyl requires a turntable. If you are unsure, pair the record with a size-free item like the Get Lifted Tour Tote. Add the tote as a safe extra, or choose the T-Shirt only if you know their size.
