Quick answer
The Railroad Ink Challenge: Electricity expansion adds a new die that lets you power your network. This guide walks you through setup, the new electricity rules, and common mistakes to avoid.
What the Electricity die changes
The Electricity expansion pack introduces a single custom die that replaces one of the standard route dice. Instead of drawing roads or railways, you roll the Electricity die to determine where you can place power lines and generators. This adds a secondary scoring layer without changing the base game's core loop.
When to add the expansion
If you've played Railroad Ink Challenge a few times and want more strategic depth, the Electricity die is a natural next step. It works best with 2–4 players and doesn't increase playtime significantly. New players should master the base game first, because the expansion adds an extra decision each round.
How to play with the Electricity expansion
- Set up the dice pool: Replace one of the standard route dice with the Electricity die. Keep the other dice as usual. Each player still draws their own board and starts with a central roundabout. Common mistake: replacing the wrong die. Only swap out one route die – the Electricity die does not replace a railway die.
- Roll and interpret the Electricity die: When the dice are rolled, the Electricity die shows one of several symbols: a power line segment, a generator, or a blank. Draw the shown symbol on your board exactly as you would a road or railway – it must connect to your existing network. Checkpoint: a blank face means you draw nothing for that die this round. Do not skip the roll; the blank is a valid result.
- Score power connections at game end: At the end of the game, count the number of electricity symbols (lines and generators) that form a continuous path from a generator to the edge of your board. Each complete path scores bonus points. Disconnected symbols score nothing. Common mistake: counting all symbols instead of only those in a continuous path. Only symbols connected to a generator and the board edge count.

Railroad Ink Challenge: Electricity: ELECTRICITY EXPANSION PACK - In the multiplayer puzzle game Railroad Ink, your goal is to connect as many exits on your board as possible. Each round, a set of dice are rolled in the middle of the table, determining which kind of road and railway routes are available to all players. The Electricity die is shared by all players, so everyone must plan around the same power-line options each round – just like the regular route dice.
